Israeli radio quoted Israeli army sources as saying that the 29 people were arrested because of suspected involvement in planning attacks against Israeli targets.

Palestinian witnesses said an Israeli army force unit detained nine Palestinians in Nablus, adding that Israeli soldiers threatened to blow up a house of a Palestinian, if he didn’t surrender.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine said in a statement that Israeli troops detained 20 of its members in the village of Beit Fourik in Nablus’ southeastern suburb.

Earlier on Sunday night, Israeli troops also detained two Palestinian militants Nablus — one a member of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Fatah movement armed wing, and the other a Hamas member.

The Israeli arrests in the West Bank came a day after the Israeli cabinet decided to release 90 prisoners from Israeli jails, aiming at bolstering Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ position.
