Islamabad : Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Wednesday said that the government would take all necessary measures to ensure a peaceful environment before and during the presidential election.
Talking to a group of parliamentarians who met him at the prime minister’s house, Aziz said the national obligations had to be conducted in accordance with the constitutional provisions. These also placed on the government the responsibility to maintain conducive atmosphere.
The law enforcing agencies have been asked to take suitable action to protect the life and property of the people and no one would be allowed to violate the law of the land, Aziz said.
He reaffirmed that the re-election of President Pervez Musharraf would ensure continued progress and prosperity of Pakistan, and all those who wanted to promote national interest would support him during the upcoming presidential election.
Aziz said the government believed in dialogue with all political forces to achieve consensus on all issues of national importance.
