Bangalore, Sep 28 (IANS) Six players of the Twenty 20 World Championship winning squad were felicitated with golden bats by sports goods maker Reebok at the team hotel here Friday.
Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Rudra Pratap Singh, Rohit Sharma and local lad Robin Uthappa were presented golden bats in the presence of former captain Rahul Dravid, who is also the brand ambassador of Reebok.
“What Mahi (Dhoni) and his team has done will inspire the next generation. I grew up seeing the images of Kapil Dev lifting the World Cup at the Lord’s and I was inspired by that,” said Dravid, while congratulating the members of the victorious team.

India is a country of extremes, says Gilchrist
Bangalore: The hype created in the country after India’s triumph in the Twenty20 World Championship has attracted the attention of the Australian players as well.
Aussie wicketkeeper batsman Adam Gilchrist said: “India seems to be a land of extremes. When the national team does well, the fans create a lot of hype and when the team fares poorly, they bring them down and criticize them extremely.”

Sreesanth mobbed by kids for autographs
Bangalore: Fast bowler Sreesanth was mobbed at the team hotel here by a group of autograph hunting kids.
As soon as the Kochi speedster entered the team hotel, the kids rushed to Sreesanth and the bowler patiently obliged his new fans.
A group of nurses, who were at the hotel for a conference, also rushed towards him and he didn’t disappoint them either.
The hotel authorities had to intervene to disperse the crowd and Sreesanth managed to get to his room.
