“It is good to see that a paint company is now exploring the emotional aspects of consumers while connecting with them,” Malhotra said at the launch here Friday evening.

“This initiative would help the company relate with their consumers on a more humane level. Also style will not remain only for the elite but reach more and more people. This will bring a change globally about how the world looks at Indians,” he said.

The designer launched the five dominant moods of the nation that are slated to play an important role in the coming year with a fashion show. Models draped in red, brown, baby pink, aqua blue and green and tangerine depicted energy, identity, balance, well-being and solace respectively.

Malhotra also unveiled soft blue as the colour of the year “as it reflects evolution of individuals towards a life that is marked by optimism, simplification and well-being”.

These colours were derived from emerging trends in fashion, technology, architecture, art, product design and popular culture confirmed through consumer research across seven cities and interviews with an eminent panel of experts from different walks of life.

“This initiative of ours will offer to you the latest in colours and shades that will reflect your various moods and emotions and will help create one’s own signature style,” said Anuj Jain, vice-president marketing and sales (Decorative) of Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd.
