In the meeting Wednesday, Kouchner said: “Iran is a great country and we will never want to fight with it and we are looking for peace.”

According to Foreign Ministry Media Department report, Kouchner, in the meeting, said that the media had distorted his statements about Iran.

The two foreign ministers discussed Lebanese issue and efforts to solve the current crisis there and also Iran’s nuclear issue.

Referring to the current cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mottaki said: “The new round of cooperation between Iran and IAEA should be supported by all sides” adding that “Iran’s nuclear dossier is now in its proper place.”

Kouchner said: “We support Iran-IAEA negotiation, although some other countries do not have such stances and we again underline that the only way for solving this problem is diplomacy.”
