The victims were members of two families living in Ifugao, a mountainside village. A 9-year-old boy was the lone survivor of the two families.

Floods, caused by tropical depression “Hanna” (locally named “Lekima”) also affected 350 families in the neighbouring Kalinga province, in northern Philippines.

“Hanna” made a landfall in northern Philippines Saturday and was still bringing rains in northern and central Luzon Sunday while moving from the Philippines territory towards Vietnam, said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

“Hanna” is moving west at 19 km per hour and is expected to be 670 km west of Iba, Zambales in northwest Philippines by Monday evening.

PAGASA reiterated its advice to residents in low-lying areas and near mountain slopes to take all the necessary measures against possible flashfloods and landslides.
