Islamic Universities’ Federation supports inter-faith initiative

Riyadh : The Executive Council for the Federation of the Islamic Universities has adopted the Inter-faith Initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz as regards enhancing the values of dialogue among the heavenly religions. “This development came at the end of the 13th session of the Executive Council of the Federation of the Islamic universities, hosted by Kuala Lumpur-based Islamic University last Thursday and Friday.

Dr. Suleiman Abal Khail, the Rector of Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic university, told the Saudi Press Agency that the Council adopted the initiative in line with the proposal presented by Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University. He noted that the Council urged the Islamic Universities to shoulder their responsibility as regards enhancing the values of dialogue among the religions and civilizations, and conducting constructive dialogue with the academic and information institutions as well as shedding light on Islam and its great values and on the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).

Dr. Abal-Khail pointed out that the Council had also discussed the biased-campaigns being launched against Islam and its Prophet, and called for confronting the campaign by dialogue ad openness. It is worth mentioning that the Executive Council includes representatives of 15 Islamic Universities.
