Ahmedabad : Three villages in central Gujarat were evacuated in a precautionary measure after a factory in the industrial township of Ankleshwar caught fire Thursday. There were no reports of loss of life though properties worth millions of rupees were destroyed.
The massive fire broke out at the storehouse of the incinerator plant of Bharuch Environ Infrastructure Limited (BEIL) in Ankleshwar, about 250 km from here, at 5.30 pm. after 12 to 15 drums containing hazardous wastes caught fire.
It was brought under control at 10.45 p.m.
District Magistrate Arati Kanwar told IANS that the area has been cordoned off and three villages of Dadhal, Jitali and Saifuddin situated near BIEL have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.
