Dharamsala : The Tibetan government-in-exile Friday welcomed a gesture by Chinese lawyers for offering legal service to Tibetans in China.
“We are happy to learn that a group of Chinese lawyers based in mainland China has April 3 offered legal assistance to Tibetans arbitrarily arrested and imprisoned by Chinese protests since the March 10 protests began in Lhasa and other Tibetan areas,” a spokesperson of the Tibetan government-in-exile said.
“We are equally encouraged that the lawyers have called upon Chinese authorities to obey the constitution and follow legal procedures in dealing with arrested Tibetans and not subject them to torture during interrogation,” the official said.
