Emergency landing for UK flight

By KUNA

London : A plane bound for Luton airport, near London, from Athens was forced to turn back and make an emergency landing, the low-cost Easyjet airline said Monday. The Boeing 737 developed a “technical problem” shortly after take-off on Sunday night, which engineers are investigating, Easyjet added. Flight EZY 2002 requested an emergency landing and returned to the Greek airport 40 minutes after taking-off. The plane’s 119 passengers had already seen their flight delayed by 90 minutes because of snow in the UK. An Easyjet spokeswoman said all passengers had been offered the option of taking an alternative flight to Gatwick or taking the next day’s flight to Luton. “The flight returned from airborne due to a technical problem and passengers were transferred to the next available flight to Gatwick 40 minutes later,” the spokeswoman said. “We don’t know the nature of the technical problem yet but our engineers are investigating”, she said.
