India: Free the Cuban Five

New Delhi : The liberation of the Cuban Five antiterrorists arbitrarily imprisoned in the US appears as a main subject in the program of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution in India.

It will be a constant demand in the actions of solidarity with Cuba, the Secretary of the Central Committee of All India Forward Bloc G. Devarajan told Prensa Latina.

The Committee of Solidarity with Cuba, for which Executive Body is member Devarajan, has proposed a wide program of activities, seminaries, exhibitions and meetings, for the rest of year all around the country.

The political leader was one of those who took part in an act of support to the Island and to thank Fernando Remirez de Estenoz, head of the Department of International Relations of the Communist Party of Cuba, who visited India last week.

Remirez de Estenoz met with important political leaders and Indian officials, among them the minister of state for Foreign Relations Anand Sharma, Oil and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar.

The speakers in the solidarity act emphasized the achievements of Cuba despite the febrile insistence of US government to asphyxiate it with the economic blockade, as well as its medical and educational aid to developing countries.

In its intervention, Remirez de Estenoz stressed that the force of the resistance of Cuba lays in the unity of the peoples.
