International seminar on child labor underway in Cairo

Cairo : The Second International Seminar on the Reduction of Child Labor is underway at the headquarters of the Arab Scout Regional Office here. The Rabat-based Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) is organizing the event in cooperation with the Arab Scout Regional Office. Proceedings of the seminar, which was opened by the Egyptian of Minister of Labor Force and Migration Ms. A’esha Abdel Hadi will conclude on April 10.

Delegates representing a number of regional and international organizations such as the International Labor Organization, the Arab Labor Organization, UNICEF, the Arab League, the World Organization for the Scout Movement, the Arab Council for Childhood and Motherhood, the Egyptian National Council for Childhood and Motherhood and a British child-relief organization are taking part in the event, according to an ISESCO statement.

The Seminar reviews the situation of child labor at the Arab and international levels, in an attempt to eliminate the worst forms of child labor as defined by international and Arab conventions. Among the other topics placed on its agenda, the seminar explores ways to enhance the role of Arab and world scouting movements in improving the living conditions of working children. ISESCO is being represented in the seminar by Mustapha Eid, programs’ specialist at the Information and Culture Directorate.
