New Delhi : In the third shooting incident Monday in the capital, two youths sustained bullet injuries when they were shot at in a case of suspected gang rivalry in northwest Delhi late in the night.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 9.45 p.m. when some youths in a Honda City car opened fire at four youth – Mandeep, Kunal Kheari, Nakul and Ankit – who were roaming in the F Block market of Ashok Vihar area.
According to unconfirmed reports, both sides exchanged fire.
Mandeep, who sustained a bullet injury on the left leg, and Kunal, who was hit on the right hand, are recuperating at the Sundarlal Hospital nearby. There had been some altercation between both groups in the afternoon, which took an ugly turn late at night, police said.
“Two people identified as Shiv Kumar and Indrajit have also claimed to have sustained bullet injuries. Nobody has been arrested, but investigation are on,” said Delhi Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat.
Earlier in the day, a city-based businessman Arun Gupta was shot dead by three unidentified men on a motorcycle in south Delhi. The police said a property dispute could have prompted the killing.
In another incident, unidentified men robbed a van, used for collecting cash from liquor shops in Masjid Moth area, and escaped with Rs.3 million. A security guard suffered bullet injuries in the heist.
