The two new incidents came barely a day after three cases of shooting shocked Delhi.

In Noida Wedebnsday, four unidentified men on two vehicles shot dead Sheeba Thomas, who had resigned from Virgin Airlines a fortnight ago. The four assailants halted their vehicles in front of her car. An angry Thomas opened the door of her car. One of the assailants then dragged her out and started beating her.

As she was not easily overpowered, one of the four men opened fire from a pistol and the bullet passed through her chest. As she collapsed, the criminals fled the spot.

An anonymous caller informed the police of the shooting. Police sub-inspector Narendra Sharma rushed to the spot and took her to the Kailash Hospital wherethe doctors declared her brought dead.

A laptop, a bag and a passport were recovered from her car while her mobile phone was missing.

In the other incident, three unidentified criminals on a motorcycle shot at a retired army officer at 12.30 a.m. Wednesday near the Amity University crossing in Sector 44.

The criminals opened fire on Lieutenant General (retired) T.J.S. Gill when they failed in their attempt to rob him of his Hyundai Accent car. The critically injured man drove his car to his residence at D-11 Sector-44 and his army officer son took him to the Bhardwaj Hospital. He was later shifted to the RR Hospital in Delhi Cantonment.

The police said Gill was returning from Delhi when the trio halted their black motorcycle in front of his car. As the officer realized their intention, he jumped out and attempted to stop them from attacking him.

But the three criminals attacked him and when they failed to rob him, one of them fired three shots at him. Gill received bullet injuries in the abdomen.
