The 200-kg reptile, believed to be from a nearby swamp in the state of Malacca, was halfway up the flight of steps when shocked onlookers called the fire and rescue department late Wednesday, the Star daily said.

“We managed to capture the crocodile after it got stuck in a drain outside the building while trying to get away,” district department chief Isa Ahmad was quoted as saying.

The crocodile did not cause any damage to property.

The captured reptile was transferred to the state zoo Thursday, the report said.
