The company has been granted all the requisite approvals for the maintenance and overhaul of its Bell helicopter fleet and the first line maintenance of its current Eurocopter fleet of choppers.

“This $2.75 million (Rs.70 million) facility will allow Global Vectra Helicorp to consolidate its position as the leading offshore helicopter operator, and provide excellent support facilities for our growing helicopter fleet,” said Vectra CEO Allan Brown.

According to Brown, the first phase of the development will include the aircraft maintenance facility and associated workshops, and the second phase will provide a four-storey office block, which will accommodate all offices and essential support services required by the company.

Vectra chairman and managing director Lt. Gen. (retd) S.J.S. Saighal said: “We see this venture as the foundation for the benefit of our existing and future partners in India.”

He feels that the set-up of the new hanger is an important step to establish a full-service maintenance in tandem with the increasing flying hours.

Vectra has a market share of more than 50 percent in offshore sector and has clients like ONGC, Reliance Industries Ltd, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd, and British Gas Exploration and Production India Ltd.
