Multi-commodity exchange launches four new contracts

Ahmedabad : The National Multi-Commodity Exchange (NMCE) has launched new series for futures contract in guar seed, soy oil, turmeric and chana with effect from Thursday.

The new series in guar seed, soy oil and turmeric – called August-2008 contracts – will expire Aug 20, while the delivery period for each will begin three days prior to that on Aug 18.

The new series in chana, called September-2008 contract, will expire Sep 20 and the delivery period will begin Sep 17.

The basis delivery centre for guar seed is at Deesa (Gujarat) and for soy oil at Indore. The basis centres for turmeric is Central Warehousing Corporation’s (CWC) warehouses at Erode (Tamil Nadu) and Nizamabad (Andhra Pradesh), and for chana at Delhi.

At present, the NMCE is running futures contracts in 113 series in 28 commodities like rubber, pepper, cardamom, raw jute, sacking, copra, isabgol, menthol crystal, metals, castor seed, other oilseeds and their derivatives.
