New Delhi : Rohan Bopanna prevailed over Kei Nishikori in a tough five-setter to give India a 1-0 lead against Japan in the Davis Cup Asian-Oceania Group I tie here Friday.
Bopanna beat Davis Cup debutant Nishikori 7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 in two and a half hours in the first match of the tie at the Delhi Lawn tennis Association courts here.
Prakash Amritraj will take on Go Soeda in the second singles later Friday.
