In all cases, the land has been leased to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) at a nominal annual rent of Re.1 for an initial period of 30 years, Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal told reporters here Friday after a cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The lease can be renewed for two similar terms each, he added.

In Jammu and Kashmir, 9.25 acres will be leased in Bandral Kalan village in the Akhnoor region of Jammu district while in Punjab about 6.48 acres will be leased at Dappar military station in Patiala district.

In Himachal Pradesh, 13.56 acres will be leased in Dharamshala in Kangra district. Eleven buildings will also be transferred, for which the KVS will pay their book value of Rs.698,986, Sibal said.

In West Bengal, 4.92 acres will be leased in Kalimpong in Darjeeling district.
