Bhubaneswar : A man allegedly killed his mentally challenged father in Orissa, the police said Friday.
Imli Kujur, 50, a resident of Ladabega in Sundergarh district, some 500 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, developed a brain disorder and turned violent about two years ago. His family could not afford his treatment.
“He often attacked villagers. To control his movement, relatives chained him inside a room for the past six months,” S.K. Mohanty, a police official, told IANS.
His son, Amarish Kujur, 35, had an argument with his father Thursday night. Then he hacked his father to death with a sharp-edged weapon when the victim was sleeping, the police alleged.
Amarish Kujur has been arrested. The police claimed to have seized the weapon.
