Karachi : Seven people were killed and dozens of cars and buildings torched during clashes between rival groups of lawyers in the commercial district of Karachi yesterday. Rioters set ablaze more than 40 vehicles and a seven-storey building housing offices of lawyers near the City Courts, police and ambulance officials said.
“We have taken out five charred bodies from the Tahir Plaza,” said a spokesman of Cheepa Ambulance Service. “There are reports that bodies of three other victims were inside,” he said.
Police later said one person, who sustained a bullet wound, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, while another body was found in the Burns Road area.
