Gaza : Israeli Army troops advanced toward eastern fringes of Al-Buraij refugee camp in the center of Gaza Strip under cover of a hail of gunfire on Friday and got embroiled in bloody clashes with Palestinian fighters.
Medical sources said six Palestinians were wounded in the fierce street-to-street fighting, and that medics were unable to reach the hot spots due to the intensive gunfire exchanges.
Witnesses said gunship helicopters were called in, backing the Israeli infantrymen in the ground clashes, and Palestinian factions said their men resisted the assaulting force with mortar shells and anti-armor rockets.
