On Saturday, Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi and a few Congress party leaders went to TT Nagar police station in the state capital here and demanded a case of fraud be registered against Sadhna Singh for misleading the income tax (IT) department and added that the department has also slapped a penalty of Rs.10,000 on her.

“Income tax authorities had issued a notice to Sadhna Singh under section 272 B of the Income Tax Act,” she told reporters outside the police station. When asked about the source of her information, Devi said she got the information through a newspaper report.

The IT department, however, refused to comment on the issue, saying: “We normally come across many such cases where the error in PAN are found. It is not a big issue”.
