By Xinhua,
Beijing : China Monday said it would step up a seven-month public security campaign to ensure safety and stability for Beijing Olympics in August.
In the wake of suspected terror plots and the riots in Tibetan areas, measures will be taken to protect electronic facilities and oil and gas networks from possible subversion, the ministry of public security said.
Special attention will be paid to security of public recreational places, hotels and leased housing, said the statement.
Illegal guns and explosives will be seized, it added.
The ministry said it would work with the state council to enhance political awareness and responsibilities among the public in Olympic host cities.
