Ghaziabad : The police have registered a case against the principal of an educational institution in Ghaziabad town of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly denying admission to a Dalit student and making casteist remarks.
Superintendent of Police Vijay Bhushan said the case was registered April 11 following a complaint by Prem Narayan who accused the principal of Shiva Institute of Management of having abused him verbally.
Prem Narayan had been selected for admission to the Bachelor of Education course of the Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur, by a common admission test. Shiva Institute of Management was allotted to him as his study centre.
In his complaint to the police, Prem Narayan alleged that when he approached the institute for admission on March 28, he was asked to pay Rs.45,000 as donation. On expressing his inability to pay the amount, he was asked to come the next day. When he returned to the institute, the principal humiliated him by allegedly hurling casteist abuses.
Circle Officer C.P. Singh, who is investigating the matter, said the principal was yet to be arrested.
