Abbas’ visit comes upon an official invitation by Putin before a meeting on “the Palestinian, Arab and international policy to follow up the situation” in the aftermath of Annapolis peace conference, Nabil Abu Rdineh told the press.

“The visit will include thoroughly talks about all issues, including the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations and ways of boosting the mutual ties with Russia,” added the spokesman.

Russia is planning to hold an international peace conference to push the Mideast peace process and to evaluate the results of Annapolis conference. Palestinian National Authority (PNA) expected the conference to take place “in the coming few months.”

Meanwhile, the spokesman said Abbas is preparing to visit Washington upon an invitation by U.S. President George W. Bush.

Israel and the PNA announced the resumption of their peace talks at the U.S.-hosted conference of Annapolis last November, but failed to achieve any breakthrough so far.
