Deadly Tuesday in Iraq

Baghdad : Over 160 casualties, including dead and wounded, was the result of a day of great violence in Iraq on Tuesday, when neither US invading troops nor local forces have managed to check Iraqi resistance.

On this occasion, the country witnessed in Baquba, north-east of Baghdad, the most lethal attack in the last six months.

Police informed that the explosion of a car bomb near the court and the town hall killed 40 people and wounded another 80, damaging property seriously.

Medical reports confirmed the number of people killed, but said it was likely to increase.

Meanwhile, in downtown Baghdad, two people were killed and another two wounded, including a mid-ranking officer, after a bomb exploded near the Alwiya police station.

At least 14 people were killed and another 15 wounded today west of Ramadi, the capital of Al Anbar province, in a suicide car bomb attack at a restaurant frequented by police officers in Jamsa Kilo area.

Also in Baghdad, a car bomb attack at main Waziq Square killed one person and wounded another nine, most of them police officers.

According to preliminary investigation, the vehicle exploded as a car carrying Police officer Ali Sabri passed by. He escaped unharmed.
