Gaza : Israel did not allow any kind of fuel into the Gaza Strip on Wednesday despite reports said that Israeli defense minister had agreed to let cooking gas and power planet’s diesel into the strip, said a concerned Palestinian official.
“Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak did not execute his promise to let in the industrial diesel for the power generating planet and the cooking gas which have been withheld since seven days ago,” Mahmoud al-Khozendar, deputy director of the Union of Gaza Service Stations Owners, told reporters.
On Monday, Barak said he will allow two kinds of fuel again into Gaza upon a request from Egypt, but the car diesel and Benzene will remain withheld.
Israel halted the industrial diesel and the cooking gas supply in Gaza since April 10 following a Palestinian gunmen attack on Nahal Oz crossing which used to deliver the Israeli fuel into Gaza. Two Israelis were killed in the shooting incident.
Jamal al-Khodari, an independent parliamentarian who leads a campaign against the Israeli sanction on Gaza, said the only power station in Gaza is set to halt in two days if not supplied with diesel.
Israel started a gradual reduction on the fuel shipments to Gaza since Hamas took over the territory by force in June.
