Srinagar : Former minister of state for home in the central government Muhammad Maqbool Dar died after a brief illness here early Thursday. He was 65.
Dar, who was the minister of state in-charge home affairs in the Deve Gowda led government at the centre in 1996, was admitted to the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences here a few days back.
Dar was operated upon by a team of doctors for a neurological ailment but later suffered renal failure.
He won the Anantnag parliamentary seat on a Janata Dal ticket in 1996.
