Koirala, in a statement, urged the Communist Party Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) ministers to roll back the decision to quit the government as the transitional phase is still continuing and the cabinet will remain vacant.

The statement issued Friday after holding discussions with the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda also urged the CPN-UML ministers to remain in the interim government till the next government is set up.

Koirala has not accepted the resignations submitted by seven CPN-UML ministers.

Following a “strong blow” in the April 10 Constituent Assembly elections, all seven ministers representing the CPN-UML submitted a resignation letter to Nepali Prime Minister Koirala Wednesday, stating that the people’s mandate was not in the party’s favor.
