Kolkata : Keeping pace with the rising Knight Riders’ fever here, the police have put in place extra-tight security for the first match Shah Rukh Khan’s team is playing at the Eden Gardens ground.
“We have posted 5,000 policemen in civilian clothes and in uniform in and outside the grounds. Additional personnel will be placed at the main gate and outside ticket counters. There will be three-tier security at each block in the gallery,” West Bengal Police Commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakraborty told IANS.
“Teams from the bomb squad and dog squad have already reached the grounds,” he added.
“Besides, representatives from Shah Rukh Khan’s company Red Chillies Entertainment will also be present at the main gate. They will conduct laser beam ticket checking,” Chakraborty said.
Apart from Shah Rukh, a bevy of film stars like Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu are expected to attend Sunday’s match.
Ticket sales for the IPL matches began Monday and all tickets for the first two Knight Riders matches at Edens – on April 20 against Deccan Chargers, and April 29 against Mumbai Indians – have been e sold out.
