Hyderabad : Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag feels that the pressure would be on Deccan Chargers when the two teams clash in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match here Tuesday.
Sehwag, whose team defeated Rajasthan Royals by nine wickets in its first match Saturday, said the host team led by V.V.S. Laxman would be under psychological pressure as they lost their first match against Kolkata Knight Riders Sunday.
“The pressure is on them. They are playing at home and have lost one match while we won our first match. We have good confidence in ourselves and will take that confidence into the match and try to play well,” he told reporters after the practice session under lights at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal.
Sehwag feels that it was a good track to bat on and said the big hitters would have a key role to play. Upbeat over the victory in the first match, he claimed that his team was well prepared.
“Batting first or second doesn’t matter. If there is dew then that could be a factor,” he said, but cautioned his bowlers that they would be tested if Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds and Laxman play full 20 overs.
Sehwag also pointed out that the hosts lack quality bowlers while his team bowled and fielded well in the first match. He, however, said it was the performance on the day which counts. “The team which plays well on the day wins the match,” he said.
Stating that there would be changes in the team, the Delhi Ranji captain said Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik would be available for the match. “Malik is arriving tonight (Monday). We have to see where we can fit him in the team,” he said.
