Iran’s Ahmadinejad appoints new caretaker for economic ministry

Tehran, Iran : Iran’s official news agency says President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has replaced his economy Minister.

The IRNA report Tuesday says Hossein Semsami, a university teacher in economics, was chosen to be a temporary Minister of Economy and Finance. He will hold the post until a new minister can be named and confirmed by parliament.

The former economy minister, Davood Danesh Jafari, has been promoted to be an adviser to the president.

Ahmadinejad has made Cabinet changes five other times since coming to office in 2005.
