Kuwaiti Premier opens Iraq’s neighboring countries Meeting

Kuwait : Kuwaiti Premier Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah inaugurated here today the third meeting for the Foreign Ministers of Iraq’s neighboring countries.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal is heading the Kingdom’s delegation to the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Nasser Al-Sabah underlined the importance of preserving Iraq’s security and stability and condemned terror acts in all forms.

He expressed Kuwait’s keenness in extending help to the Iraqi brethren to facilitate building the state’s political, economic, social and cultural institutions as well as affirmed his country’s condemnation of all forms of terrorism in addition to giving more attention to the problems of the displaced Iraqis.

Sheikh Nasser Al-Sabah pointed out that it is an essential matter to preserve Iraq’s independence, national unity, safety of its territories and its Arab and Islamic identity in addition to enhancing the pillars of the national unity.

The Kuwaiti Premier called for adherence to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of Iraq, adding that ‘despite the existing national, ethnic, religious and historical bonds which link the neighboring countries with the Iraqi people, yet we believe that intervention in its domestic affairs and exporting political disputes will turn Iraq into a field of armed dispute and will undermine its security and stability in a manner that will have an adverse impact on the security and stability of the entire region.

He expressed happiness for the commitment of the Iraqi government to dismantle and disarm all armed factions, adding that it will effectively contribute to drying the sources of illegal armament, and open new horizons for a political dialogue which paves the way for national reconciliation and enhancing the pillars of social security and peace.
