New Delhi : The Congress party Tuesday said Rahul Gandhi’s proposals on farm loan waiver are still under consideration of the finance ministry, even though Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar had ruled out any changes in the scheme.
“We do not consider it (Pawar’s statement) a rejection (of Rahul Gandhi’s suggestions). all constructive suggestions will be looked into when final allocations are made in the budget,” said Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi at a press conference.
Rahul, in his speech in the Lok Sabha on March 14, had suggested doing away with land ceiling as a criterion for loan waiver. The Congress MP had said localised cut-off dates instead of a uniform date should be introduced.
Pawar Monday told the Lok Sabha that the government “cannot take new responsibilities” under the Rs 600 billion loan waiver scheme.
