Oracle Academy to offer its curriculum to students

Hyderabad : Oracle Academy will offer its business and technology curriculum to students of 342 engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on this was signed Wednesday by the Institute for Electronic Governance (IEG), an initiative of the state government, with Oracle India Private Ltd (Oracle) and the Oracle Academy.

The IEG, which leads the state’s Jawahar Knowledge Centres (JKCs) initiative, will work with Oracle to roll out the Oracle Academy program to 342 engineering colleges that are part of initiative.

Under the MoU, the Oracle Academy program will be offered to more than 50,000 students over a two-year period.

JKCs faculty members will also receive intensive training in the Oracle Academy curriculum so that they may help their students gain vital business and technology skills for 21st century careers.

Students from Andhra Pradesh will join the more than 103,000 students from over 900 education institutions in the Asia Pacific region who have already benefited from the Oracle Academy program, said a statement from the Oracle.

“At IEG, we aim to transform Andhra Pradesh into a knowledge society through the Jawahar Knowledge Centre initiative. This is in line with the government of Andhra Pradesh’s reform process, which attempts to bridge the gaps between the industry and academia and make students more employable,” said, Amarnath Reddy, CEO of IEG.

“Oracle Academy provides students with access to the business and technology skills required for 21st century careers, ” said Krishan Dhawan, managing director of Oracle India.

JKCs were started by the government in engineering colleges in 2004 to extend the benefits of IT and ITeS industry to the rural and remote colleges by imparting employable and industry grade skills to students. Run by the Institute for Electronic Governance (IEG), there are currently over 650 JKCs in the state.

The Oracle Academy supports over 397,000 students in 83 countries.
