New Delhi : Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday formed a human chain outside parliament to protest rising food prices.
The protesters, including senior BJP leaders M. Venkaiah Naidu and Sushma Swaraj, wore coloured jackets emblazoned with slogans like “Mehangai Hatao” (Eliminate price rise).
BJP MP and actor Hema Malini wore a green jacket with prices of essential food grains written on it.
The BJP leadership, at a meeting of the NDA earlier this week, had said it would make price rise the central issue of its campaign against the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
