Brussels : The European Commission (EC), the executive body of the 27-member European Union, announced here Friday that it has granted clearance under the EU Merger Regulation to the acquisition of sole control of the Jaguar and Land Rover business (JLR) of the US Ford Motor Company by Tata Motors Limited of India.
Tata Motors manufactures passenger cars, commercial vehicles and buses primarily in India and sells light commercial vehicles and passenger cars in the European Economic Area.
Jaguar mainly manufactures luxury passenger cars and Land Rover produces sports utility vehicles.
The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure, noted an EC statement.
