Chennai : Madras High Court Monday rapped district administration in Tamil Nadu for “flouting rules by interfering in the affairs of the Kodanadu Tea Estate” said to be partly owned by Leader of Opposition in the state assembly J. Jayalalithaa.

In his orders, Justice K. Chandru, however, advised the owners of the estate to conditionally allow people of Kotagiri (where a bungalow partially owned by Jayalalithaa is situated) in Nilgiri to use a road partially passing through the property.

Another judge of Madras High Court had refused to hear the matter being contested hotly by the Tamil Nadu government and Jayalalithaa since September last year.

Tamil Nadu government claimed last year that Jayalalithaa had violated all norms, stipulated under the Hill Areas Development Programme (HADP), while developing the property and prosecuted the manager of the Kodanadu Tea Estate.

The management of the estate had denied the charge.
