Scotland Yard said the men, aged between 33 and 46, were arrested Tuesday in dawn raids in the town of Newton, in Wales, and in London.

All the three were suspected of commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism and would be questioned at a London police station later Tuesday.

The arrests were linked to a long-term investigation into alleged funding and procurement activity in support of terrorism overseas, Scotland Yard said.

“It is not linked to Al Qaeda-type activity or inspired terrorism. It is in relation to support, procurement and fundraising for a proscribed organisation, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam ,a spokesperson said.
