Pirated books seized in Kolkata

By IANS,

Kolkata : The authorities soon plan to raid all shops on College Street – the largest book market in Kolkata – to seize pirated text books after making a large seizure, the police said Wednesday.

The decision was taken after pirated text books of the current academic session of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education were seized by police from north Kolkata Tuesday.

“We raided a godown at Amherst Street and found over 4,500 English and Environment Science text books of Classes V-X. We are on a trail for everyone involved in this racket, from printers to sellers,” Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters) Vineet Goyal told IANS.

“We have been able to trace one shop on College Street which sells these pirated books. The owner of the shop has fled. We have arrested an employee.”
