Hyderabad : The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has asserted that the fire on the Secunderabad-Kakinada Gautami Express was not a terrorist act but it was due to the electric short circuit.
Dr. Reddy made the statement at Warangal after inspecting the five bogies which were gutted in the fire earlier. “I am convinced that this is not an act of terrorism”, he said. Earlier a team of forensic and explosives expert from the state police had examined the bogies and concluded that there was no proof of any sabotage in the incident.
The Chief Minister said, “nevertheless it is a big and irreparable loss for the families of the victims and nothing can compensate it”.
As the accident had occurred at a time when the country is in grip of tension after the serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmadabad and intelligence agencies have also warned of similar attacks in Hyderabad, speculations and rumours were rife that the fire on Gautami express could be the result of sabotage.
