On the basis of information provided by Dulal, a Delhi Police team arrived in North Bengal Thursday night and made the double arrests.

Mahiruddin and Yassin were produced in the Jalpaiguri Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court Friday and remanded to police custody for seven days, Tamta said.

They have been charged under the Explosive Substances Act.

Special Inspector General of Police (Jalpaiguri Range) Zuklfiqar Hassan said he earnt from Delhi Police officers that the arrests were linked to the Delhi blast.

Asked whether the duo could be linked to the Ahmedabad blasts, Tamta said: “I have no such information. As far as I know, they have been picked up in connection with the Delhi blast.”
