Chandigarh : A police inspector was found dead here Saturday morning and officials suspect he was stoned to death.
“The body of Kashmir Singh was found in an open area near Dadu Majra colony. His face was completely disfigured with bricks and stones by his killers. His official motorcycle and helmet was found lying near the body,” said Rajesh Shukla, officer-in-charge of the Sector-39 police station.
“We are scrutinizing the movements of Kashmir Singh in the last few days. We are also checking his call details and soon will soon achieve a breakthrough in the case,” Chandigarh police S.S. Srivastava told IANS.
“We have raided some places and detained three people for questioning, but it is too early to comment on the end result,” Srivastava added.
Munna, an eyewitness, said: “I got a call at around 5.15 a.m. from one of my neighbours saying that a dead body was laying outside my house. On seeing the body, I immediately called the police.”
The victim was posted with the VIP security division of the Chandigarh police.
