Ankara : Turkish police seized 207 kilograms of heroin in Dogubayazit town in the country’s eastern province of Agri on Saturday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
Acting on a tip-off, the police searched a truck coming from neighboring Iran and found the heroin hidden in secret parts of the vehicle, said the report.
It added that the driver of the truck was detained.
Turkey is a key transit route for smuggling drugs from Asia and the Middle East to markets in western Europe.
