Kolkata : Pump majors Worthington Pump India Ltd (WPIL) based here and Clyde Pumps Ltd, based in Glasgow, have floated a joint venture to make special pumps needed by power plants, a WPIL statement said.
The manufacturing unit of the joint venture – Clyde Pumps India Pvt Ltd – would be based in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, the statement said.
The plant will manufacture boiler feed/concrete volute and other special pumps for conventional and super critical power plants.
“We are very excited by the growth opportunities presented by the combined synergies of the two partners,” Prakash Agarwal, WPIL’s managing director, said in the statement released here Friday night.
“We expect the new manufacturing unit to go on stream in the next 15-18 months,” Agarwal said.
“India is an exciting and important market for the rapid growth plans of the Clyde Pumps organisation and we see our partnership with WPIL as a very positive step towards strengthening our market position in India,” Jim Mccoll, managing director, Clyde Pumps, said in the statement.
