Bharti Enterprises shuffles management at apex level

New Delhi : Bharti Enterprises, with interests in telecom, agri-business, retail and insurance, has restructured its apex management, it announced here Tuesday.

“With the new structure, we will engage functionally with our emerging businesses at a deeper level, empower the developed businesses, strengthen the interface mechanisms of Bharti with the businesses and leverage the group functions effectively,” Bharti chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said in a statement.

As part of the new apex level re-structuring, Bharti has created an office of the chairman and group chief executive, which will identify growth opportunities, guide businesses, monitor the group’s financial health, and develop talent.

Three new directors – to look after chairman’s office, corporate affairs and shareholder’s office – will support the office of the chairman and chief executive.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal and Rajan Bharti Mittal will be the vice chairman and managing director, respectively, of Bharti Enterprises.

While Rakesh Mittal will also be the co-chairman of Bharti Foundation and will focus on social projects, Rajan Mittal has been elevated as the vice chairman and will focus on retail, cash and carry and realty.

Akhil Gupta will take charge as the deputy group chief executive and managing director of Bharti Enterprises.

He will also take specific charge of Bharti’s tower infrastructure business as the vice chairman and managing director of Bharti Infratel, apart from leading the financial services and software businesses.

Gupta will continue to be on the board of Bharti Airtel.

Manoj Kohli will take over as the chief executive and joint managing director of Bharti Airtel.
