New Delhi : The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Tuesday sought a report on the police investigation in the killing of two school children at a hostel run by spiritual leader Asaram Bapu in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara town.
“We have sought a report from the police about the handling of investigation in the whole incident,” NCPCR member Sandhya Bajaj told IANS here.
The Madhya Pradesh police have accused a 14-year-old boy for allegedly murdering the two boys. The teenager was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days to a juvenile home Monday.
“The two victims and accused are all minors. We need to see that the rights of the accused child are not violated,” said Bajaj, who visited the school run by Asaram Bapu’s ashram in Ahmedabad after two children died in July.
Bajaj said: “We will wait for the police report and then take further decision.”
Vedant, 5, was found unconscious in the bathroom of the gurukul run by Asaram Bapu July 31. On July 29 evening, Ramkrishna Mohan Yadav, 5, was found dead in similar conditions in the Chhindwara school.
In Ahmedabad, two students – Deepesh Vaghela, 10, and his cousin Abhishek Vaghela, 11 – went missing July 4 from the gurukul. Their bodies were found from the nearby Sabarmati riverbed July 6.
