Agartala : Launching Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “expose United Progressive Alliance (UPA)” campaign in Tripura Tuesday, party leader Sushma Swaraj termed the Manmohan Singh government’s trust vote win as “suitcase victory”.
“The UPA government lost in the confidence vote on July 22 as they bought the votes on the floor of parliament,” Swaraj told a party rally here.
“It was a suitcase victory for Manmohan Singh,” she said.
The BJP’s nationwide campaign aims to expose the UPA government’s alleged failure on all fronts.
The campaign began here with the BJP pledging to expose the alleged misrule of the UPA government and the “double standards” of the Left parties.
Terming the proposed Third Front led by the Left and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as non-starter, the senior BJP leader said her party and the Congress would dominate the next general elections.
Criticising the Left parties, Swaraj said: “The country has been confused with Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) general secretary Prakash Karat’s latest statement over projecting BSP chief Mayawati as the prime minister even as the so-called Third Front has no existence.”
The BJP organised a protest march to the Tripura civil secretariat to highlight the alleged administrative failure to contain terrorist movement through the India-Bangladesh border and soaring prices of essential commodities.
