Jammu Muslims form new front

Jammu : Jammu Muslims today constituted a new front to represent the community at various forums.

Informed sources told News Agency of Kashmir that prominent members of Muslim community from various areas of the Samba, Kathua, Samba, Nowshera, and other areas today assembled at Batandi to take stock of situation arising out of the ongoing agitation in the region.

The members unanimously constituted a new forum – Muslim Front Jammu so as to represent the community at various forums as well as to safeguard the interests of the community.

Prof.Zahoor-ud-din was nominated as chief patron of the front while Abdul Gani Kholi as patron, Abdul Gani Malik Senior Vice President, Chowdry Bashir Ahmad Vice president, Hussian Ali vice President, Ashiq Hussian Khan as General sectary and Chowdhary Noor Alam nominated of the newly front.

Suhail Kazmi and Farooq Chowdhary were nominated Publicity Secretary and casher respectively.

When contacted newly nominated Chief Patron of the Muslim front told News Agency of Kashmir that the front was formulated with the intention to ensure welfare and security of the community members across the region. He said that the Muslims of the Jammu have already extended their support to the Sangarsh Simiti but even then the members of our community were being targeted and harassed.

“The front in coordination with Simiti will protect the minority members whether they are Muslims or Hindus and the Simiti shall also ensure protection of Muslims in the region” Prof Zahoor-ud-din told NAK adding peace without communal harmony and brotherhood was not possible.

The front appealed the majority community to restrain from attacking Kashmir bound trucks on National Highway. “We expressed sympathies and pray for early recovery of all those who got injured particularly the drivers of the trucks who were attacked by the miscreants in Samba area last night.

The front members passed a resolution and impressed upon the government and majority community to extend their cooperation. The front will meet Simiti members for coordination in protecting the minority members of both the communities.

The administration should provide adequate security to the Muslims not only with in the city but also in other parts of region.

The state government should also provide adequate compensation to Muslims whose properties has been damaged or looted by the miscreants during the unrest, he demanded.
